Eyelid Surgery, or Blepharoplasty, is used to remove loose, baggy skin that forms on the upper or lower eyelids with age.
Puffy bags under your eyes or sagging eyelids can make you look older and more tired than you feel. These symptoms may also interfere with your vision.
As we age many factors can contribute to ‘bags under the eyes’. These include heredity factors and / or sun damage. Younger people with congenital excess fatty tissue may also elect to have this procedure done to eliminate puffy bags under the eyes, or sagging upper eyelids.
Blepharoplasty can be performed as an isolated upper or lower eyelid procedure or in combination. Eyelid surgery will not eliminate dark circles, fine lines or “crows feet” wrinkles around the eyes, or alter sagging eyebrows.
Eyelid surgery is usually performed in our Day Surgery Centre using twilight sedation. The surgery generally takes one to three hours if you're having all four eyelids done. Alternatively, it will be half that time if you are only having upper or lower eyelid surgery alone.
Surgical scars will be situated in the upper eyelid crease or just under the lower lashes, and therefore be inconspicuous.
This treatment is a good option to create a more youthful, fresher appearance, and the results are permanent.
